We had some new faces in the gym, in health class, & lunch monitoring this week, as Mr. Reeds had two guest students as "P.E. Teacher for a Day"! Thank you to the Ferrelli & Valentine families who bid on & won this experience for their students in our #SpringforSuccess Silent Auction this past April. The "new teachers" got to experience everything from explaining the rules of a game & passing out pinnies, to proctoring a test in middle school, & assisting our littlest "Bees" at lunch!

🧁 These 5th grade friends got creative with cupcakes last week! Thank you to the Hausrath family for bidding on and winning this "Crafting Cupcakes" Party sponsored by Mrs. Larson in our Spring for Success Silent Auction this spring! The girls spent time after school using different edible materials to create cupcake masterpieces with a barnyard theme. The best part was - they got to eat their creations afterwards!

🐝⚽️ JV SOCCER UPDATES:
6/1/25: The SMS JV Bees put the cherry on top of their season this past Sunday with a 7-0 win over St. Stephen's. The absence of several travel players led the JV Bees to call up some up-and-coming SMS 3/4 players including Xavier, Henry, Luke, Elyse, and Cora; and they did not disappoint! Xavier and Grayson shared goal-tending duties, locking down the net against a fierce opponent. Michaela spearheaded the Bees’ defensive efforts with fast feet and huge kicks to clear the ball. Elyse had big plays on all sides of the field throughout the game and generated a huge cheer with a phenomenal second half goal. Josh left the crowd (and himself) in disbelief with a goal that seemed to turn towards the goal in mid-air. Gabe, Luca, and Dawit had big goals as well. The season ends with a 6-1 record and 13 pounds of uneaten oranges at coach’s house!
5/22/25: The SMS JV Bees did it again, defending home field with an 8-2 victory over St. Greg's, while covered head-to-toe in mud. Navigating puddles and a constant downpour, Eli scored 5 goals for the Bees! Gabe and Nico helped with additional goals to bolster a solid lead. Jack showed his tenacity with incredible scoring efforts, only to have his goal called off for an off-sides penalty. Rain-check Jack! SMS goalie David even tried to score a goal, dribbling from his net through a flurry of defenders, only to miss the net in a brave attempt to solidify his place in the history books! The Bee defense led by Michaela, Grayson, and Francesca protected the honeycomb and showed great stamina in repelling the Cougars. Great job Bees!

Happy Feast Day of St. Joan of Arc, especially to those SMS students in Mrs. Bishop's St. Joan of Arc Faith Family!
St. Joan of Arc was a peasant girl who lived in France during the Middle Ages. When Joan was 13 years old, she began receiving messages from God that she was to help drive the English out of France. Joan was equipped with armor, a sword, & a banner that said “Jesus & Mary” as she rode leading the French. Though victorious in battle, she was captured & kept in prison before being condemned to death. Her nickname is ”The Maid of Orleans”.
Feast Day: May 30
Symbol: Coat of arms with a sword, crown & fleurs-de-lis.
Faith Families are groups of students, each represented by a Saint & led by one of our teachers. These mixed-grade-level groups sit together at school Masses, take turns leading the liturgy, & work together for special projects & events like Catholic Schools Week, Spirit Week & our end of year HSA Picnic.

These new feathered friends are getting along fabulously! Thank you to Nature's Prize for loaning (and the DeGolier family for delivering) our Montessori classroom some "foster chicks" to pal around with the lone chick that hatched from the Montessori incubator. The students are having so much fun learning about the growing birds, and their peeps can be heard even out in the hallway!

💙🌹 Our students have been praying, coloring, painting & learning during the month of May... all about Mary! The month of May is a time for Catholics to reflect on Mary's role as a model of faith, obedience, and love for Christ, and to seek her intercession. SMS students have a special connection to our Blessed Mother, considering our school bears her name!

Kindergarten was GLOWING CRAZY today for their Glow in the Dark Neon Party! Thank you to the Moleski family for bidding on & winning this experience for their daughter and the class in our 2025 Spring for Success Silent Auction.
Students were invited to wear their best neon outfits to school and enjoy a morning of painting under black lights to watch those neon colors glow! Each student created their own painting to bring home as a great Kindergarten memory, and a glow stick dance party and special treat made the morning extra bright!

Miss Kirwan's 3rd grade class has been keeping it REAL with autobiographies! Each student read the autobiography of a famous or historical person or group, then summarized what they learned and drew a picture. Great job!
