Mrs. Picone's 1st graders created monster word problems recently.... answer if you dare! 👻 #firstgrade #wordproblems #halloweenfun

Who doesn't love a good jigsaw puzzle?! Students enjoy working together on a puzzle when they have a few minutes to spare during Religion class.

Don't forget...school picture day is tomorrow! All students should dress in their picture day best! Parents/guardians may pre-order photos at mylifetouch.com using the SMS ID that was sent in the "Buzz". Paper order forms were also sent home and should be returned to school tomorrow if you are not ordering online. All students will be photographed regardless of if you wish to order photos, for the yearbook.

Mr. Dolan's 8th grade classes participated in an Ellis Island Immigration simulation today, in which most students were immigrants, as well as an inspector/doctor. Students packed five essential things they would need to bring with them to a new country in a gallon sized bag, but the deal was that the bag had to close! The goal of this lesson was for students to understand the basic steps in the inspection process of immigrants at Ellis Island. #socialstudies #grade8 #history #ellisisland

Members of the Knights of Columbus Council 17530 were on hand after school Mass today to present medals to SMS students for their achievements in the K of C "Soccer Shoot-out" Competition held last Spring. Congratulations to David & Francesca Mineo, as well as SMS alumna Ashley Zielinski '24 (not pictured), on your achievements! #KnightsofColumbus #soccershootout

Mr. Dolan’s 6th grade Social Studies class has been learning about how ancient civilizations communicated and passed down history. They studied cave art from a number of ancient communities, and then made some of their own!

Do pumpkins sink or float? 🤔 🎃 Mrs. Picone's 1st grade class found out the answer to this puzzling question & others, during a day of predictions, experiments & observations! They found out that pumpkins do indeed float, what pumpkin "guts" smell & feel like, & how many seeds were inside this particular orange orb! Can you guess how many???

Our #Kindergartners have a new ghostly friend in class watching to see if they are being good! "Spooks" is a friendly little ghost who moves around the room overnight, & students look for him each morning. They even made some glue-y ghosts of their own to decorate! #halloween

Our Middle School students have been busy in Art! From art history inspired boxes, to spooky decoupaged Halloween vases, & graffiti inspired pieces, their work looks beautiful! #artclass #middleschool #everyonesanartist

Mrs. Picone's first graders were working together yesterday afternoon in Math with their number lines. #mathisfun #grade1 #worktogether

Last Friday we recognized numerous students for their #faith! Faith was the #virtue we chose to focus on for #September, and teachers chose the pictured individuals as students who particularly exemplified the virtue and did something to live out their faith last month.

We are always so pleased to have students train & volunteer to serve at Mass! Recently, two brand new altar servers were recognized for having served at their first Mass, during one of our weekly school Masses. Congratulations, and THANK YOU to all of our student altar servers!

Go through your garage, mudroom & coat closet - don’t throw out your old shoes- bring them in starting tomorrow to support our 8th graders as they fund-raise for their class trip! Shoe collection bins will be placed outside the school office. Our 8th graders have a goal of 2,500 shoes so they appreciate all the support they can get!
Shoes, sneakers, cleats, hiking boots, rain boots, water shoes & sandals are acceptable, they will not accept single shoes, ice skates, roller skates, wet or moldy shoes, or shoes with holes or tears. The company they are collecting for, Funds2Orgs, works to support individuals who create micro-businesses in developing countries to combat the effects of systemic poverty and a lack of education and economic opportunity. It's a win-win!
